3 Dreams beautifully unites performative aspects of Dante scholarship with new musical composition and haunting instrumental sounds shaped by research. An extraordinarily enriching experience, 3 Dreams has already brought great pleasure to audiences in both Italy and the UK.

I was transformed by experiencing the emergence of 3 Dreams in an artists’ workshop, and transfixed at its premiere in the Round Church. 3 Dreams demonstrates the possibilities of a subtle and fluid relationship between composition, (physically presented in score-form as a work of art), performance, scholarship and research. The research was presented as performance, alongside recitations from La Divina commedia and these elements were bound together with the composition itself; mesmerising combinations of musical canons of exquisite complexity. These were played by the composer and another violinist, playing on instruments, techniques and tuning systems from two different eras, as they occupied the whole performance space in a seamless choreography. I can’t imagine a more interdisciplinary approach to creative practice.
